I’ve been home from my exchange trip for nearly 2 months now, and yet many of my recent updates were only uploaded in the past several weeks, and I have several blog posts to come. This may seem a little strange, and you may ask, why the long delay?
I had originally planned to keep a blog running the entire time I was studying abroad in China, posting updates every 1-2 weeks. Unfortunately this proved harder to accomplish than I had imagined, with a busy schedule and poor internet connection making it hard for me to post updates. An even greater hurdle was the fact that the blog site I’m using, Weebly, had been banned in China making it impossible for me to access the site unless I was using a VPN. Furthermore, I happened to lose my laptop the second semester, and suddenly was unable to work on this blog at all.
Despite these setbacks, there were still so many experiences I wanted to share. I took the phrase “better late than never” to heart and have been writing and publishing posts about the most notable parts of my trip retrospectively. I have used a combination of emails to my parents, photos, and diary entries to help jog my memory so that I can write the most accurate account possible. While the situation is far from ideal, I’m thankful in a way, as it gives me a chance to reflect on my experience from a new point of view.
